Dental Implants

Our friendly dentists are here to help you feel great about the quality of your smile and if you are missing a tooth, or teeth, we can help rebuilt your smile with our Scarborough dental implants.

Dental implant is a small titanium screw that is inserted into the jawbone acting like the “root” of your new tooth. A crown is then attached to the screw restoring your smile and stopping your mouth from trying to fill in the space, ultimately causing serious health issues.

Implants are usually 4-5 millimetres in diameter, however depending on the amount of space available and the severity of the problem, some implants require a smaller screw. These are known as ‘mini implants.’ Dentists may also use mini implants to help keep loose fitting dentures in place.

Implant Process:

Initially your Dentist, Oral Surgeon or Periodontist will examine the area that the tooth is missing.

Any necessary x-rays will be taken at that time to ensure the patient has enough bone in the area to support the Implant.

Placing an Implant is normally a three step process.

  • 1st Stage: Implants are surgically placed in your jaw. Implant/bone integration takes three – six months
  • 2nd Stage: Implants get uncovered. Your Dentist or Oral Surgeon will check if the Implant has fused to the bone. (osteointergartion). Once the implant is properly integrated to the bone a temporary crown will be placed on the Implant abutment.
  • 3rd Stage: A final prosthesis (Implant crown) is made and placed onto the Implants. x-rays are taken. Regular follow up care is required with your Dentist and hygienist.
